Until then the medians had only grass. Now, Red Oak, Chinese Pistache, Mexican White Oak, Chinquapin Oak and Bald Cypress trees are part of the nearly $65,000 beautification from Waters Dairy southward. Donations were provided by HEB and members of the Keep Temple Beautiful Board; irrigation was funded by the City of Temple, and services provided by Temple Parks & Leisure Services, Solid Waste and Streets departments.
This project is part of a long-term commitment by KTB and the City to investment in infrastructure and streetscape to set the stage for growth tomorrow. Not only has it transformed the area but it has attracted the attention of people from all over who drive along south 5th Street to the new Lions Junction Aquatic Park.
