The results help determine the types of litter prevention and community improvement programs that would most benefit the City of Temple.
Six quadrants of the City are reviewed each year. Each geographic area contains an industrial/commercial areas, parks, residential areas, schools, and thoroughfares. The team visually assesses each site using a four-point scoring system: 1 = “No Litter”, 2 =“Slightly Littered”, 3 = “Littered”, 4 = “Extremely Littered”.
This year's overall score for Temple was 1.9, slightly worse than in 2009.
"This underscores the importance of continued vigilance in the area of litter," says KTB executive director, Tanya Gray. Mrs. Gray presented detailed results of the survey to community stakeholders during September and October.
